When You Choose Life, Heaven Backs You Up
When You Choose Life, Heaven Backs You Up
After hearing a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, you might think the next step is surrender. But in her book, The Report, Julie shares something much different that she learned in that moment:
I still had a choice.
I could accept the doctor’s prognosis—or I could believe God’s promises. And I chose life.
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses… that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” —Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
Choosing Life Is a Spiritual Act of War
Every day following Julie’s diagnosis was a battlefield. Emotions were all over the place. The physical pain was real. The fear of the unknown was heavy.
But God reminded her: this wasn’t just a medical condition. This was spiritual warfare.
And she wasn’t alone.
Every time she declared, “I believe the report of the Lord,” she was agreeing with Heaven. She was inviting God’s power into her situation and believing in His healing.
Your Choice Activates God’s Promises
Here’s what Julie learned, and what she strives to share with anyone who will listen:
When you choose life, Heaven takes notice.
When you speak God’s Word, angels respond (Psalm 103:20).
When you refuse to surrender to sickness, you partner with your Healer.
It’s not about pretending the pain isn’t real—it’s about proclaiming a greater truth:
“The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” —Romans 8:2 (NKJV)
Speak Life Over Your Body
Use these declarations daily:
“My body is whole. Jesus gave me life.” —based on John 10:10
“Healing flows through every organ in my body.” —based on John 6:63
“Growths and tumors have no place in me.” —based on Colossians 1:13-14
Even if you feel weak, speak anyway. The power isn’t in how loud you say it—it’s in the authority behind the name of Jesus.
